LURE PAINTINGS I-XXII (SERIES) 4” X 6” Oil paint on panel 2023- PRESENT.

These paintings are inspired by Carries G. Stevens’ lures, the rugged, persevering spirit of frontier-women, women as a whole, as well as the beauty and artistry of everyday objects. The process of rendering Stevens’ lures also inspired a philosophical examination of the aesthetics of lure-making, fish and fisher perspectives, as well as ethical considerations such as the feature industry of the early twentieth century, the treatment of indigenous people, flora and fauna.
