WHAT CAN YOU CATCH WITH OLD NETS? 8”x6” Copper etching on paper 2024,
This is the first piece in a larger body of work utilizing the mythology and symbolism of the fixed start Fomalhaut as a metaphor for seeking synthesis in my multidisciplinary practice. What can you catch with old nets? asks what happens when we continue doing what we’ve always done without reflecting to see if it still works effectively, or is starting to hold us back. Neglected pieces of a larger process that deteriorate with time, sometimes so slowly we don’t notice the change until one day we realize our nets keep coming up empty, that we haven’t “Caught” anything in longer than we can remember — how long have we been starving?
